Maple Syrup, Puppies + Mud

A couple weeks ago was Maine Maple Sunday here in Maine.

It started with these two, Mr. A and a trip into the mountain’s to boil sap.

We went to my sister-in-law’s friends place where we did this:

While the The Troublemaker did this:

And Champ the puppy (Winnie & Prim’s new cousin) found himself a nice spot to stay warm:

We most definitely didn’t forget two very important food items. Red hot dogs boiled in sap and Maple Snow.

While sap was boiling off outside, the final product was being distilled and finished inside:

After a long (and wonderful) cold, muddy day outside filled with lots of new friends, family and rambunctous dogs, it was time to go get some dinner. What better way to end the day than with an excessively large cold beer, custom burger from a local restaurant (who opened just for his friends, two of whom are my sister-in-law and her husband), and fries. I never said it was healthy.

All in all, it was a fantastic night away. It even tuckered the dogs out.

Happy Mainer Things (that some of us really do and enjoy),

  1. The Troublemaker is too cute! What a mush!

Your photos have a faint tint (don’t know how to describe it) — is this done during processing in like Photoshop? Just curious 🙂

    1. I use Camera Bag now and again. It was an iphone app you can now get for a computer. It has pre-set edits (is that even technical? It can’t be). Anyway, that’s what I use now and again for my pictures. I like it because I can choose the output size (even if I leave it as the original picture). It makes it super easy to pop into a blog post without altering the actual photo itself. Kind of love it. Probably too much.

The Troublemaker is quite a stinker and the biggest cutest mush ever. I should really put a video up here of them someday, especially swimming. Winn is a long distance swimmer and The Troublemaker launches herself in, full bellyflop style.

She’s got personality, no doubt about that. 🙂

  2. Love the pics of the dogs! That puppy is too cute! Chocolate lab?
